Kapsiki Brass Hip Belt Piece Cameroon
$15.00
Description
The Kapsiki people, also known as Kamwe in Nigeria, reside on both sides of the North Cameroon and Northeast Nigeria border, totaling approximately 120,000 individuals. Their language, Psekiye or Kamwe, encompasses eleven dialects within the Chadic language family, including Nkafa, Sina, Ghye, Humsi, Dakwa, and Tilli.
In Cameroon, the Kapsiki inhabit a plateau in the Far North Province within the Mandara Mountains and are considered one of Cameroon's Kirdi (pagan) ethnic groups due to their historical resistance to Islamization during the Fulani jihad led by Modibo Adama and Hama Yaji.
