Akan Old Rare Cast Brass Bell Ring Ghana

This traditional Akan cast brass bell ring from Ghana is a fine example of the skilled lost-wax casting techniques for which Akan metalworkers are renowned. The ring features a hollow spherical bell with incised concentric line decoration and a simple cross motif at the crown. A loose metal pellet inside the bell produces a soft rattle when the ring is worn or gently shaken.

Bell rings such as this were worn as personal adornment and were also incorporated into ceremonial attire.
