Description
Created by Baule diviners, mouse oracles are used to predict future events. Mice, seen as mediators with Asye Usu (earth spirit) and other ancestors, are believed to possess a unique connection. The oracle structure is specifically designed to accommodate a mouse alongside 10 sticks or bones known as gbekre nyma (eyes of the mice). With two chambers for the mouse to move within, it rearranges the sticks as it scurries about. The diviner then interprets the altered arrangement to provide insights into inquiries posed by clients. The specialization in this technique requires diviners to dedicate many years to study and practice.
