Bobo Snake Mask Burkina Faso

Overall Condition: Fair to poor. Most of our pieces have spent decades on at least two continents, and have been treasured by several owners.

Damage/Repair: Indigenous repair to top of mask, pigment chipped, snake head comes off.

The Nyanga masks danced by the Bobo people of present day Burkina Faso appear to entertain the townspeople and in the past accompanied masks used by blacksmiths during ceremonies for funerals and initiations.
