Vintage Bohemian/Czech blue molded glass trade beads, featuring an elongated oval/barrel form with pronounced spiral ribbing running around the surface. The beads are a beautiful translucent powder blue to periwinkle blue, with subtle variations in color and translucency that add to their character.

These are characteristic of the pressed/molded glass bead tradition of Bohemia (present-day Czech Republic), an important center of European glass bead production. Czech glass beads were widely manufactured for export and became an important component of international and African trade.

The beads display the appealing irregularities and surface wear associated with age and use. Strung together, they make an especially attractive example of vintage trade bead material, suitable for jewelry, collecting, or incorporation into contemporary designs.

This strand is not intended to be a ready-to-wear necklace. Although the strand can be worn "as is," the string holding it together is not durable and may break with use. For this reason, we recommend that you restring the beads before wearing them.
