3 Strands Christmas "Love Beads" 33 inch
Description
These beautiful strands of Christmas Love Beads—sometimes known simply as Love Beads—are a classic and highly collectible form of African trade bead. Produced in Europe (most commonly in Venice or Bohemia) during the late 19th to early 20th century, these beads traveled through the African trade routes and became treasured ornaments across West and East Africa.
Christmas Love Beads are easily recognized by their unique multicolored “confetti” pattern, created by rolling molten glass over tiny chips of contrasting colored canes. Each bead is distinct, with lively splashes of red, green, yellow, white, blue, and more—giving the strand its festive, holiday-like appearance and the nickname “Christmas” beads.
Highly valued in African markets, these beads were traded for prestige, adornment, and bridewealth, and today they remain favorites among collectors for their joyful palette and historic charm. Strands like this are increasingly scarce and sought after.

This strand is not intended to be a ready-to-wear necklace. Although the strand can be worn "as is," the string holding it together is not durable and may break with use. For this reason, we recommend that you restring the beads before wearing them.
