Each group possesses distinct dialects, customs, laws, territories, and cultures, although they share identifiable common traits. Dayak languages fall under the Austronesian language category. Traditionally, the Dayak adhered to animistic beliefs, including Kaharingan and Folk Hinduism. However, starting in the 19th century, there has been a widespread conversion to Christianity and Islam, influenced by the propagation of Abrahamic religions.
