Legend has it that Bayajidda, the mythical progenitor of the Hausa people, undertook a migration from Baghdad during the ninth or tenth century AD. His journey included a stop at the Bornu kingdom before fleeing westward. In Daura, he played a crucial role in defeating a perilous snake with the assistance of the local king. As a token of gratitude, Bayajidda was granted marriage to the Queen of Daura. The city of Biram was later founded by Bayajidda's son, Bawo, who went on to establish six ruling lineages in other Hausa city-states collectively known as the Hausa Bakwai (Hausa seven).
Within Hausa folklore, there exist tatsunya—narratives typically imbued with moral lessons. These stories feature a diverse cast including animals, young individuals, heroes, and villains, often incorporating proverbs and riddles.
