Description
The largest Bauxite Elizabeth has ever seen in 32 years of buying! Fabulous!
Bauxite, a striking dark rusty chestnut-colored aluminum ore, undergoes meticulous hand-cutting, carving, polishing, and drilling in Africa to create exquisite beads. The heart of bauxite bead production lies in Akyem Abompe, a small Ghanaian village, where families sustain themselves through bead manufacturing. These beads carry a warm, earthy patina, with the most prized ones having absorbed natural human oils and sweat over time, giving them a unique allure. Their beauty shines especially when combined with ostrich egg heishi, creating a stunning blend of textures and hues.
This strand is not intended to be a ready-to-wear necklace. Although the strand can be worn "as is," the string holding it together is not durable and may break with use. For this reason, we recommend that you restring the beads before wearing them.
