Igbo 'Bug' Brass Beads and Glass Trade Beads Nigeria
Description
Strand of traditional brass Igbo bug beads from the Igbo people of Nigeria, featuring hand-formed elements with rich aged patina. These are mixed with a few stunning Venetian and Bohemian glass trade beads.
Likely mid-20th century or earlier, these beads reflect long-standing metalworking traditions and were worn as symbols of status and adornment.
This strand is not intended to be a ready-to-wear necklace. Although the strand can be worn "as is," the string holding it together is not durable and may break with use. For this reason, we recommend that you restring the beads before wearing them.
Strand Length: 18 inches (including string/raffia).
Bead Size: 7-15 mm diameter.
