This intricately handwoven hat is covered in glass beads and cowrie shells.
The frame of this cap is made out of raffia fibers. This cap is nicely decorated with beads and cowrie shells. Among the Kuba, such caps are known under the generic name of laket. They are worn by Kuba nobles (Mbeemy and Mbeengy) and princes as symbols of their high rank and part of their ceremonial garment.
