Hand-carved wood Kusu figure with distinct body markings and influence from their Songye and Hemba neighbors. Kusu divination and magical figures usually have holes carved in either their abdomen or heads to contain the magic needed to energize the figure. Originally, these figures were used on family shrines as offerings and praises were conducted.
