Description
An Ethiopian leather-wrapped lunch box constructed from coiled grass and fully encased in hide. The form features a fitted lid and leather straps for carrying, with a beautifully aged surface and rich patina from use. Examples such as this are found among the Oromo and other ethnic groups of Ethiopia. These portable containers were used to carry injera and other foods to markets, fields, or community gatherings. Both practical and durable, the layered construction reflects skilled craftsmanship and everyday utility. A strong example of traditional Ethiopian functional design.
