Description
Makishi Dolls, originating in Zimbabwe and Zambia, are created on wire, painted with bold colors, and adorned with fabrics and fibers. The Makishi rites of initiation are performed by the Lundas and Luvales people. They dress in costumes with matching masks for important ceremonies, and their dances include stilt walking. These dolls culminate the spiritual celebration of these masquerades.
