Pumtek Tibetan Trade Beads 40inch
Description
Original Pumtek beads were made in Burma (now Myanmar) from opalized palm wood. They are rare and valuable, having been made more than a thousand years ago. In the 1920s, the original beads were no longer found at ruins sites, and new ones began to be made from fossilized (not opalized) wood. These are from that later group. Contemporary beads made in Nepal in the style of ancient Pumtek beads from Myanmar.
This strand is not intended to be a ready-to-wear necklace. Although the strand can be worn "as is," the raffia holding it together is not durable and may break with use. For this reason, we recommend that you restring the beads before wearing them.
