Description
These are a pair of handmade wooden and leather sandals, reportedly acquired from the Senufo people in Cote d'Ivoire. The Senufo, a diverse group with various subgroups, migrated to their current location in the 15th and 16th centuries, maintaining relative isolation from neighboring cultures like the Songhai and Hausa. Unlike their northern counterparts, the Senufo have enjoyed stability, borrowing knowledge from neighbors without constant threats. The sandals exhibit noticeable signs of extended use and aging.
