Description
Artist: Nicholas Tandi
Nicholas Tandi is an African sculptor known primarily for stone carvings, especially busts and figurative sculptures representing African people and cultural themes. Born in the Bindura district of Zimbabwe in 1948, he began sculpting after studying at the Nyarutsetso Art Centre, where young artists were encouraged to develop their carving skills. His work focuses mainly on the human form, often depicting expressive heads and portraits carved from serpentine and other local stones. Although detailed biographical information about him is limited in widely published sources, his sculptures have appeared in galleries and auctions and are associated with the tradition of modern African stone sculpture.
