White Greenhearts Venetian Trade Beads 32inch
Description
White greenheart beads (also called white-heart or green whiteheart beads) are a classic type of Venetian glass trade bead. They were produced in Venice, Italy, then exported to West Africa from the 18th through early 20th centuries, where they became highly valued in trade and adornment.
Beyond their decorative appeal, they functioned as currency, symbols of status, and carriers of cultural meaning. In Africa, they were widely exchanged for valuable resources and became integrated into local adornment traditions and trade systems.
Today, Red Green Hearts beads are highly sought after by collectors for their distinctive visual character, craftsmanship, and their place within the broader history of global trade and cultural exchange.
This strand is not intended to be a ready-to-wear necklace. Although the strand can be worn "as is," the string holding it together is not durable and may break with use. For this reason, we recommend that you restring the beads before wearing them.
